Beaufils’s goal is to be able to measure the positive impact he has had on the world. At Bates College, his focus on environment, place, and economic development opened the door to the importance of energy in how people interact with the environment. Now, at EMI Consulting, he assists our analysts and consultants in their research tasks. Need to conduct a literature review? He’s on it. Need someone to code a survey? He can do that, too. While building experience with all the steps in a research project, he is contributing to studies that will influence how utility programs help shape the future energy. He is always on the lookout for innovations that can make the world more sustainable. We have turbines and solar panels, sure, but Beaufils wants to find what’s next.

What are the ideas that drive you?
I want to make sustainability easier. Solar Panels, Turbines, and EVs all have less direct impact on how some demographics engage with energy. What can be done to expand the benefits of energy efficiency to be accessible to the communities that are impacted the most by carbon emissions?
Where is your favorite spot in the world?
A tie between Brazzaville and Pointe Noir (both in the Republic of Congo). I grew up in both of those cities, and I have so many great memories from both places.
What is it like working with you?
I don’t like to wait until a deadline. If I finish my task early, I can share it with my team; the more time we have to review, the sharper our analysis can be as a team.
When do you have the most fun at work?
I love the “coffee talk.” There is so much to learn in this industry, and I love taking the time to learn about the experiences and backgrounds of people who have been in the industry for a while.
